Claymore: The Chronicles - Book 1 Chpt 1 [English - US]
Claymore: The Chronicles [English - US]
Description:
Claymore: Chronicles it's a fan series of comics and stories, created by Antony Bindilatti, a big fan of Claymore from Norihiro Yagi. The series have different stories of the characters from the manga/anime series from Yagi, all focusing some journeys, some action, and, some joy with the favorite characters (and some less).
The focus of the story is the adventures of a boy called Tony, a young Templar at the neophyte level who enters in the Organization to learn more about Claymores and Yoma. Until the moment he got inserted by the Organization in Irene's team, with the instructors Sophia (Number 3), Noel (Number 4), Ilena (Number 2, and, I prefer Irene. Sounds better by the original name and to avoid mistakes with Elena from Clare's Generation), and the new recruit Priscilla.
Throughout the journey, Tony meets new characters and new people beyond the Organization and the Yoma, like Teresa, Clare, Galatea, Rafaela, the other warriors and William, the Trickster.

In a world surrounded by mystery, a world populated by humans and sinister creatures that dwell in the shadows, on the lookout for humans and impersonate them after feeding on their brains and entrails. Humanity lived under pressure and fear of these creatures called Yoma, except when they resort to services provided through a mysterious Organization that aims to protect the villages through trained women known among the humans of Claymore. The reason for the name is the two-handed heavy swords. In addition, they also had another name: the Silver-eyed witches, because of their silvery eyes, white-blond hair and pale skin.
The contracts provided to obtain protection that the Organization conceived for humans were expensive for some villages and those who are unable to pay for their services run the risk of having future requests denied.

It was a quiet and simple day in a distant region, two warriors were waiting for another two to arrive. One of them had a pair of pointed ears that resembled an elf, long silver hair and a serious look in addition to a defined physical feature for a mature woman, with firm but not so thick and not so thin legs and moderately sized breasts. The other had short blond hair, a younger physical appearance and a serious look, but her eyelids are not drooping like the older warrior's.
Priscilla: Irene?
Irene: Wait, Priscilla. Soon the others will be here and I will give you the reason for our arrival here.
Priscilla: And do you have good expectations for the new trainee?
Irene: I hope he doesn't cause problems for our side. Disregarding this, we hope for good results.
Irene was then the Organization's Number 2 warrior while Priscilla initiated recently. They say there are 47 warriors in total, each positioned according to their specifications of skills and attributes in specific regions for the containment of Yoma, except when their tasks are of high risk and involve more than one warrior.
While they waited for the new trainee to arrive, the other warriors arrived late. One had a tomboy, short blond hair with raised tips in different directions and a close athletic appearance. The other had tumbled blond hair, a style that closely resembles a princess, and a slender physique.
Noel: Yo, Irene!
Irene (unhappy): You're late, Noel, Sophia!
Sophia (pointing to the colleague): Noel was the latter to gear up. It wasn't my fault.
Noel (crossing her arms): Yeah. I was having a good dream until this one kicked me out of my corner.
Irene: I'm not interested in to hear excuses. You have been called to an important mission. Am I clear?
Noel and Sophia: Yes, Mistress Irene.
Priscilla: Mistress Irene, may I interrupt for a while? Now that we are gathered here, could you tell us why the Organization called us?
Irene: Of course. (Irene introduces the recruit to the other girls) This is Priscilla, our newest recruit and she will come to help us in our mission.
After meeting the recruit, the warriors paid attention to the warrior of the rank Number 2.
Irene: However, the reason we are gathered here is that we were called by the Organization to help with our new trainee, coming from his battalion.
Sophia (curious): Trainee? Really?
Noel (serious): What do you mean? Were we called to come here, just with the task of looking after little children? Don't make me fool around!
Irene (serious): Allow me to finish the subject so you can say what you want!
Having said that, Noel listened while Sophia gestured a dissatisfaction from her rival.
Irene: Very well. Our trainee is a boy who was recently appointed by his group to be part of the Organization for some time. (with an unpleasant expression) And to be honest, not only is he late, he is not like one of us.
Sophia: A boy? What do you mean “a boy”, Irene?
Noel: Yeah! What is this story about us taking care of a boy? And even more appointed by the Organization of a battalion that is not part of ours?
Irene: You'll see.
In the middle of that lovely moment, a human picture arrives in the middle of the horizon. Wearing a long blue cape with golden edges and a drawing of two moons in a front of a four tips star. His hair was a long ponytail. Instead of a suit used by Claymores, it was a thick and resilient armor, and his sword was different from them. Consists in unsheathing from the waist, having only a cutting edge and lightness as a saber.
He is standing before Irene and the other warriors. His eyes and hair are brown. Noel and Sophia were surprised to meet him.
Irene: Noel, Priscilla, Sophia, allow me to introduce our trainee. Tony. He's a neophyte from his battalion. And he's going to help us in our journey.
Tony: Nice to meet you. As you know, I'm not what you called Claymore. Instead, I'm knight, precisely, Templar.
Priscilla: What exactly is a Templar?
Irene: It's what I believe our equivalent. But unlike us, he doesn't carry Yoma flesh and blood inside himself.
Noel (unbelieving): But what's make himself a perfect candidate to hunt Yoma if he's not like us, Irene?
Irene: Simple, Noel. We'll soon see his potential when we go to the field and test our trainee's abilities.
Sophia: Irene, I don't like to be rude, but I don't think it's a good idea of the Organization for sending him to us. Besides, there's no men among us to engage Yoma in this time.
Tony: That's because I'm not from what you called The Organization.
Irene: Tony is from a group of powerful warriors denominated as The Ai'Qaad Expedition.
Noel: We never heard of them.
Irene: Me too. But they volunteer the young trainee to help us.
Tony: Don't worry about me, elf. I can help with everything that you need in our journey.
Irene listened up that line of his phrase and she got unsatisfied.
Irene (almost angry): Do not call me that. Why do you think I'm an elf?
Tony: That's because of your pointy ears.
Noel laughed of that mockery. Irene's looking was very scary towards the Number 4.
Irene (serious): Try to control your impulses, Noel. Unless if I send a report about your irresponsible behavior. And about you, Tony, try to be serious if I won't include you in my report.
Tony: As you command, Irene.
All the warriors are looking at Irene while she instructs our mission.
Irene: That's all the information we have for this job. I want you in these villages and attend their distress endeavors with Yoma, while Priscilla and Tony is going to learn their respectable duties of our call. Noel and Sophia are more experienced in this situation, so you don't have to worry to much. I shall resolve an issue with them regarding a suitable place to establish us. Dismissed.
All: Understood, Irene.
Noel and Sophia were leading the two newcomers to the village from which they appointed them to demonstrate Tony and Priscilla's skills. In the middle of the departure, Irene continues to her individual course in order to deal with what she mentioned to the four before the separation.
////
Ten minutes after the departure, the warriors and the trainees went to the first village. Before entering, Noel and Sophia passed the basic instructions on this kind of mission.
Sophia: Alright. Irene put us in charge of her actions. And I have no idea why to put Noel in that task either.
Noel: Speaking like that, it looks like it's going to bring good luck and strength to the people, Sophia.
Sophia (with her eyes closed, showing some degree of vanity): It's because you're kind of dumb.
Noel (angry): And you're clumsy with brute force!
Priscilla (standing up to intervene the discussion): Guys, you won't help much if you keep arguing!
Tony: Yeah. We need double focus in our task as you live arguing over an important position.
Noel and Sophia controlled themselves over the discussion.
Sophia: Okay. You got us.
Noel: Let's see what matters. Usually a warrior is called for such a mission. There are exceptions when there are more than one Yoma or when they are harder to kill with one of us.
Sophia (she explained as she drew with a stick on the ground): The mission is simple. State the reason for being called and that the reward of the mission will only be fulfilled when the problem is eliminated and that a man in black would come to grab it if that happens.
Noel: But if it fails, say that payment won't be necessary.
Tony: Yeah. But what if a decent burial was necessary for our failure?
Noel (annoyed): Are you a dumbass or what?
Priscilla: Maybe it's his culture and Templar's for requesting a decent burial.
Sophia: Yoma eat entrails, brain and human flesh. Won't be necessary to take a burial like that when the monster has devoured your last carcasses.
Tony (putting his arms around his neck): Huh? You are very cruel in this way. But let's go to the main task.
Sophia: At last, inform the principal of the mission, locate and kill the Yoma, even if it is among the local population. But remember, it is strictly forbidden for us to kill humans, even in a conflict between them.
Tony: Why? Even if a certain group of humans don't have something to defend against others, it would be cowardly of us to let them die like that.
Noel: Unfortunately these are our rules. We cannot act on our own and kill humans out there. We would be branded as treacherous and would further tarnish our image before the Organization.
Tony: Yeah. But as I said, I'm not from the Organization and some of the rules don't apply on me.
Priscilla: But Tony, you're among us. So there is no way to act on your own even if you have to protect humans from others. Our job is to protect them from monsters.
Tony: Meanwhile, a human who hunts and kills humans, is worse than Yoma. The same goes for a Templar to kill another Templar with no legitimate reason. We would become worse than our own fallen brothers.
The Claymores stared at him seriously as he addressed the matter. Then they proceed to the main.
Sophia: Anyway, these are our tasks. As a demonstration, we will put Noel to go to this village and show them how it should be done.
Noel (serious): Me? But why?
Sophia (closing her eyes): Because you always want to stand in front of me, but I'll let you go first.
Noel: Yeah. But do not say that I warned you if things spoil on my side.
Sophia: Excellent. Would someone like to ask another question before the monkey goes ahead and show a little pounding? (Noel was angry with her colleague)
Tony (raising his hand up): Me. The man in black, just to know. Who would be in doubt.
Sophia: Sometimes it's usually anyone in the Organization. But our turn is Rubel.
Tony was a little relieved to hear the name Rubel.
Tony: Good. Because the other one there, the hooded…
Priscilla: Orsay?
Tony (his teeth were showing to the girls): That one is weird and strange. I couldn't bear to see his face again.
Sophia: Tony, Orsay is not a suspicious guy. There is no reason to fear him.
Tony: It's not that. His expression is that weird besides his face. That's why it's hideous to my liking.
Oddly enough, Tony's bottom teeth and canines were sharp and pointy, like dragon tusks.
Noel: Yeah. Anyway, let's show a little action to these kiddos. (got up and continues walking)
Priscilla is unhappy with the commentary made by the Number 4 for calling her a kiddo.
Priscilla (angry): Hey, where are your… (the other one was already far away to listen)
Tony: Sophia, is she really such a hard shell?
Sophia (sighs): Always, Tony.
The three went on to observe the other's behavior in action. As Noel was in charge of making the introductions, Priscilla and Tony were around Sophia to get a sense of how a Claymore's duty works. Despite being in the position of listeners while Noel spoke to the village leader, this would assist the two trainees in order to put what they learned into practice.
Noel: I was sent by the Organization to stop the Yoma that torments them. There will be no immediate payment for the services rendered. A man in black will come to pick you up as soon as the task is finished. If I fail, it will not be necessary to give him the reward of the task.
Village leader: I see. You know, our village is small and as much as we have, we can afford your services. That's what we can do to make it up to you to save us from Yoma.
Noel: In this case, get ready to pack the money and deliver it to the man in black while we take care of the Yoma.
After the conversation was over, she met with the group and went out searching the corners for the hidden Yoma. There was nothing but alleys and houses.
Noel (furious after scouring every corner): Damn! This Yoma is very clever.
Sophia: Be patient, Noel. He will appear to attack.
Priscilla looked sideways and Tony looked forward. Suddenly, the sound begins to feel sinister as it passes through his ear.
Tony (thinking): (But what is this feeling? I've never felt something so dark. But what is?)
Suddenly they heard a scream from a woman across the street. The four warriors went to investigate. Arriving in place, it was a very large Yoma, preparing to attack its victim. And as she did so, the villager covered her face with her hand. But she was saved by Tony as he jumped to pick her up and take her out of harm's way.
Tony: Are you okay? I suggest you run as fast as you can!
The villager ran off, leaving Yoma with they warriors.
Noel (happy): Finally, some action!
Sophia: So, how do you plan to defeat him, Noel?
Noel: It's simple, Sophia. In just two minutes, I'll slice the head of this monster.
Priscilla (clenching her lips with her teeth): Are you sure?
Noel: Hey, brat, if there's one thing I know, your state of concern is irritating me!
As she advanced with speed, Noel struck an acrobatic blow over the monster and could not catch its head, but its shoulder had a blunt thud. As it descended to the ground, it turned its face into fury. Yoma screamed and threw its punch at Claymore. However, a blow of the sword came to cut it off. It was Sophia.
Noel (frustrated to see her colleague taking her scene): Always getting into my fighters.
Sophia: I appreciate your concern, Noel.
When they heard the creature scream again and set off for the attack, Priscilla intervened in the advance.
Priscilla: I will not let you hurt my instructors! (she threw her blow to cut off the other arm)
Then Tony was watching out for the Yoma as he moved closer to the creature.
Noel (watching the Templar walk calmly toward the target): Hey! Do something, fool!
Tony (calm): I appreciate the warning. I just want to study it some more.
Sophia (furious): Study them when this one is dead!
Tony paused for a moment. And when the Yoma noticed him, it was to snatch it with his teeth.
Tony: What a bad breath. Too bad, I wanted a living Yoma to better understand its behavior. But this one is out of the question.
He drew his sword and tore his head in half without trying so hard. Yoma's body fell hard on the floor. And it was one on the first mission.
Priscilla (running up to Tony): Tony. Are you alright?
Tony: Of course. That monster was not as scary as I thought it was.
The two instructors came half angrily.
Tony: I think I owe an apology for that.
Sophia: Not exactly. But you should be careful next time if they attack you like that.
Noel: Besides, that one was mine!
Tony (guarding the sword in place): Sorry for that, Noel. I think I pushed hard too much.
She crossed her arms in unhappiness. Tony was a little saddened with that. Suddenly one of the villagers came on the scene.
Villager: Oh, excuse me. I did not expect them to be able to take down Yoma like that, so quickly.
The Claymore turned their attention to him. To his shock, Noel moved so fast with the sword in her hand.
Noel: I bet we're so quick to realize it wasn't just a Yoma in this village.
Then the villager's body was torn apart in half. Tony was startled to see it, but when he saw the blood gushing out, his coloration was not reddish, but pink. That villager was a second Yoma. Unlike the other, he managed to disguise itself among the population.
Tony (scared): Damn, Noel. You almost scared the hell out of me.
Noel removed the blood from her sword by shaking it in the air.
Sophia: Remember Tony, Yoma can disguise themselves as humans perfectly. Simply digest the entrails and brain of their prey and they already acquire their memories, personalities and physical form.
Priscilla (praising the instructor): Incredible, Noel.
Noel (smiling): Thanks. At least I already have a Yoma eliminated in this village.
Noel and the others left the village with the task successful. Well, partly in relation to young Tony.
////
Halfway to the next training site, the group stopped to rest in the middle of the road. Without a proper place to rest, the young neophyte needed to use his bag as a pillow while they would have swords to support their backs on the blade in order to rest.
The fire was lit, the instructors were telling their stories of how they beat countless Yoma to Priscilla and Tony. In the middle of the conversation, the neophyte ended up losing attention for today. Sadness took over his heart. Having that fright and the criticism received from the most experienced warriors, he felt that this training was not what he expected in comparison to the early days on the Expedition.
////
In the middle of the night, the Claymore were sitting to sleep as their swords propped their backs. Tony couldn't sleep properly after all. He decided to get up and get his things ready. The noise of his armor locks made Priscilla to lose her sleep a little. And when she opened her eyes, she saw that figure walking forward, moving away from the fire. She went behind to try to talk to him.
Tony had reasons that it wasn't what he wanted, to be instructed by Claymore, to hunt Yoma, or not to listen to the others to tell stories. Moving forward, he heard a call.
Priscilla: Tony.
He noticed the rookie's presence. He stopped in an instant to talk.
Priscilla (worried): What are you doing?
Tony: I am leaving.
Priscilla: Why?
Tony (sighed to have the courage to tell): This is not my place.
Priscilla: What do you mean?
Tony: You saw them. They put me down after today, from the moment I was too close to that Yoma and for stealing the kill from Noel. I don't think it's a good idea to put me on your team.
Priscilla: And… does that bother you so much to make such a decision?
Tony: A little bit. (he sighed and prepares to walk forward) I think I'll be going.
As I walked forward, the young warrior called him again.
Priscilla: And… you know where you're going? I wouldn't want to see you alone in a world as dark and dangerous as this.
Tony: Don't worry, Priscilla. Templar's know the way to their provinces and camps. I bet there's one straight ahead. Six leagues, I would say.
The young Templar said goodbye to Claymore and continued on foot to the Ai'Qaad Expedition camp. Seeing him go away like that, Priscilla was upset at the way the young man was received by the most experienced warriors.
////
Next day, the other Claymores woke up.
Noel (yawning and stretching his arms): Good morning Sophia.
Sophia (did the same): Good morning Noel. (She notices the young Priscilla sitting half sad). Good morning, Priscilla.
Realizing that she didn't answer, Sophia went to the rookie.
Sophia: Hey, what happened around here?
Noel: Did you guys see that boy?
Priscilla turned her sad face to them and they were frightened.
Priscilla (crying): He's gone.
Sophia: What?
Noel: What do you mean?!
Priscilla told the two the reason the Templar was gone.
Sophia (sorry): I… I didn't knew that he got like that after in that village.
Noel (not caring much): He was just an idiot for leaving us.
Sophia (angry): Noel! You were the idiot for the first place! You frightened him with your visible temper in the middle of the mission!
Noel (arguing): Me?! But you were the idiot too, for letting him take that Yoma!
Priscilla (shouting): Enough, both of you! At first you should take care of him as disciplined instructors! Instead, your discussion and rudeness was that they put his self-esteem down, making him go away!
The two were upset when the rookie rose her voice and pointed out that they were wrong to be angry with Tony. Then Noel began to cry and Sophia lowered her head.
Noel (crying): I was… very harsh with him. I shouldn't have been angry with him like that.
Sophia put her hand on her friend's shoulder.
Sophia: Me too, Noel. But the most important thing is to find Tony and apologize to him. (Sophia gets up and goes to the rookie) Priscilla, do you have any idea where he went?
Priscilla: He said about an Expedition camp, about six leagues from here.
Noel: Six leagues? And in what direction?
The rookie points with her hand outstretched. They were both frightened by the direction he had taken.
Noel: In that direction he won't hold out for long.
Sophia: There are reports of Yoma in a forest in that direction. Not to mention that there is a possible existence of an Unusual Yoma in that region.
Priscilla: An Unusual Yoma?
Noel: Some Yoma may be larger than the others and are extremely dangerous. Three warriors who went there didn't return from their missions.
Sophia: If Tony has taken this route to meet his camp, he won't last to engage with Yoma and the Unusual.
Priscilla (picking up her sword): So, what are we waiting for? We must help him!
Noel (holding out her hands, asking to calm down): Whoa, calm down, Priscilla. We need to tell Irene what happened.
Priscilla: Noel, Irene is far from here. If we go to her, we will not be able to reach Tony and it would be too late.
Sophia (agreeing with the newcomer): Priscilla is right. Besides, she wouldn't like to hear of our attention with Tony getting out of line. We must go immediately.
Noel (sighing as she took out her sword): How difficult you are to understand. Okay, let's find Tony before he becomes Yoma's food.
The three Claymores took their weapons and went on to find Tony.
////
Tony entered the extremely dense forest. Several pines covered the horizon and the sunlight didn't touch the ground. He walked without knowing the probable dangers that awaited him the moment he entered the forest. As he moved forward, figures began to move rapidly across the forest.
From a distance, he heard the sound of someone leaping toward him. The Templar drew his sword to defend himself. And the moment that himself, Yoma began to surround him. Tony stood firm in his stance and shook his sword at every Yoma advancing in him. The fighting style involved jumps and cross-strikes of the sword. This style is called the Swordsman Dancer, passed to various Knights and Ai'Qaad fighters. Several Ai'Qaad Templars began to use this fencing style until losing importance in relation to other combat arts, such as the Rigid Mountain Swordsman. The advantages and disadvantages of the Swordsman Dancer are wide and visible. Strength consists of cross-swords strikes and balanced formations of defensive and offensive instances. Jumping in the air and steps like a dancer's are common for an Ai'Qaad swordsman, but are centered on advancing opponents in the various directions. Ai'Qaad usually have very closed and circular attacks for frontal targets, which unprotected their backs or sides, which makes the Swordsman Dancer in defense of every field. Now the weaknesses, the advanced levels of the style involve a lot of acrobatics, which has become very obsolete for Templars when they equip their thick armor and heavy weapons. In addition, very circular blows tend to be very weak by approaching mobility and speed. For these reasons, it has become an obsolete style for most Templars.
Tony ran forward and stopped when he faced his targets. The Yoma jumped and felt the cold blade tearing their bodies, blood spreading across the forest floor.
Tony (raising his sword): These Yoma will not stop until I'm dead.
The horde came over and over him. Suddenly, other Yoma were slaughtered by a small band of warriors from the direction in which he had departed. And when he saw it, to the surprise are Noel, Sophia, and Priscilla, running and attacking the attackers. The monsters around him moved away to reunite. The warriors approached the young neophyte.
Tony (surprised): Priscilla? Noel? Sophia?
Priscilla (running to hug him): It's good to see you again.
Sophia (closing her eyes but smiling): You're a little crazy to come in this piece of the world and face a horde of Yoma.
Noel (looking around her): We barely arrived and you managed to kill some Yoma alone, just before we could arrive to help you.
Priscilla stared at her instructors to the point of reminding them why they had arrived. To apologize to him.
Sophia (sighs): Okay. We'd like to apologize for what happened in the village.
Noel (lowered her head): Yeah. I would also like to apologize. So much for yelling and ignoring you.
Tony: I appreciate your apologies. (his attention changes to the Yoma) But I think now is not a good time to apologize.
Priscilla: Well, we managed to get here to find him, but I wouldn't like to meet us after death for this band of Yoma.
Noel (smiling at the adverse situation): You may think that way. I think of a way to stab my sword in them.
Sophia: You're still the one that pulls fight of the Organization. At least I always have good attention in my fights.
Noel (writhing her face to Sophia): And you're still the arrogant ever.
Tony (turning to both): Stop, both! I'd like to discount your disagreements with these monstrous cretins!
The two of them were startled to hear that young Templar's phrase.
Priscilla (serious): So? Do you want to continue your discussion or are we going to hunt these monsters?
Noel and Sophia smiled as they were inspired by the newbies.
Noel (smiling): Yeah, those two don't look as weak as they looked like.
Sophia (smiling): Yeah. Let's see how many Yoma are going to fall with our swords?!
The Claymores and the Templar advanced fiercely. The Yoma began to lose strength as their numbers declined. Noel was advancing with her acrobatic blows, while Sophia was going with brute strength. Tony was impressed to see them in action, even more so for Number 4 pirouetting in the air. With the Number 3, her blows shattered every piece of Yoma meat that was walking around, going from behind the others. Priscilla defeated the other monsters that came. Tony broke the last Yoma in half with his sword. Concluding the hunt, the brave heroes raised their swords high, celebrating their victory.
Sophia (happy): Ah yeah!
Noel (happy): Very good!
Sophia (happy): They did well, girls!
Tony stared at their moods. They also decided to congratulate him on his efforts.
Sophia (smiling): You did well too, Tony.
Noel: Yes. Your sword strikes were incredible too.
He smiled at her answer. Priscilla was glad that things had ended well.
Priscilla: Well, it looks like we're not going to have any more problems going forward. We need to go back to the camp and tell Irene about the situation.
The team agreed with her and they walked. The situation, however, changed negatively for the team when the last of the Yoma woke up. And its appearance was a tall, strong creature with brownish skin. Its teeth and claws were sharp, capable of piercing the toughest armor ever made by man. Its eyes were golden, as were those of the other common category Yoma.
When they saw it, they were frightened. They knew that he was responsible for the deaths of three warriors who dared to come to this forest without regard for any warning and if they are not careful, they will be an addition to the Organization's casualties, along with Tony as the Expedition's first casualty.
Noel (scared): Oh Not! It's the Big Guy!
Sophia (clenching her teeth): Damn! Our fight eventually caught the attention of the Unusual Yoma!
The Devourer threw a thud on the ground, pushing the warriors back.
Tony: What is that thing?!
Priscilla: It is an Unusual Yoma! It is much bigger than the others!
The monster let out a loud cry to intimidate them.
Noel (holding her left arm in front of her face): If Tony hadn't left the camp to come and meet this Big Guy, we wouldn't be in an extremely unpleasant situation!
Sophia: Noel, now is not the time to blame anyone for what he did it! Plus, we were the responsible who demoralized him to the point of taking this tortuous path, so it would be our fault!
Noel (looking at her colleague in surprise): You're right about this, Sophia! But now, we need to use everything we have to bring down this monster! (the color of Noel's eyes changes to a golden yellow, and his pupils retract)
The warriors of the Organization are known to possess Yoma's blood and flesh implanted in their bodies. In this way, they have access to strength and skills beyond human understanding. This power is called the Yoki aura, in which they manifest in their fights with the Yoma. However, this same power has been their perdition, since a limit was set for Yoki users under the following marks: 10% of Yoki, their eyes change color; 30%, their faces distort; 50%, their bodies distort; and 70% is the upper limit they can achieve. But when they reaches 80%, it is the critical point of Yoki in which there is no chance of a return. It is where they reach a degree called Awakening, a warrior can become something more than a Yoma.
Sophia and Priscilla activated their Yoki to assist Noel in the fight against the Unusual Yoma. But Tony is not a Claymore, which had certain disadvantages in this fight.
Tony: I can see that this fight is going to be fierce. (he grabs his sword and goes on fighting)
Entering the battle zone, Tony went to attack the Yoma's legs. Suddenly, Sophia sees him attacking on these points that didn't notice the kick that would come.
Sophia: Tony, watch out!
When he heard the warning, he was immediately kicked and hit a tree. Sophia and the others attacked from both places. Shoulder, head, back, arms and legs. The Big Guy was trying to get rid of them by swinging his arms high to beat them.
Tony recovered from the blow and shook his head. No matter how high the impact, there were no signs of cuts or scrapes on his head and face.
Tony: Wow! That hurt a lot.
He notices the warriors fighting intently on the monster. Knowing that they couldn't handle it alone, he decided to adopt a different strategy.
Tony: I'd kept this one for the last. In case of facing such an occurrence. But I see that I have no other choice. (he closes his eyes and holds his sword with both hands)
Tony began to awaken something that only he had kept. One of the more ferocious Templar techniques, flowing through his blood. And as he reached the point of speeding up his heartbeat, his face began to show a few veins and arteries.
Tony (thinking): (It's the only way to help Noel, Sophia, and Priscilla to win that Unusual Yoma. If I cross the border, there's probably no turning back, but I do not want to see them die because of me. I brought this to myself and put their lives at risk, so the way is to reverse this situation, even sacrificing… my own LIFE!) (He opened his eyes again and this time, they were no longer brown, but red)
Tony divided his sword in the middle, generating an equal in his other hand. He awakened a technique called Kran's Wrath, or to humans and Claymores: Berserker. Then he let out a scream of fury to intensify his attacks.
Templars of the Kaessun Expedition possess mastery of Kran's Wrath to the point that a single warrior can decimate an entire battalion and survive to tell the story. The eyes acquire a red color and their strength, speed and precision are multiplied for an Ulzikrarun, however, they suffer effects of interrupted regeneration, hemorrhage and bleeding in the long term. In Tony's case, Berserker does not have enough strength for such negative effects, but there is also the possibility of reduced consciousness and sanity over prolonged use. If he goes beyond the limit, he would lose his sanity to the point of becoming thirsty for blood and violence.
Tony (feeling the frenzy flowing in his body): That's it! It's now or NEVER!
The Templar rushed forward to face the Yoma. The warriors were frightened by the way he ran and prepared to attack his target.
Priscilla (scared): Tony! What are you doing?! Do not come here!
Noel (furious): That brat is about to kill himself, that's for sure!
Sophia (scared): Tony, this Devourer is very strong! You will not be able to do it alone!
He was very close to jumping.
Tony: I appreciate your warning! I don't think I'm going to need it!
They got scared and when he got close to the legs, the monster began to lose stability by being hit hard. The Big Guy was about to strike with resilient fingers toward the warriors, but some were stopped by Tony's slashes in frenzy mode. Noel opened a wound on Yoma's right shoulder, Priscilla blinded its left eye and Sophia cut off its right hand. Tony was advancing with speed and breaking pieces of flesh from his target, until he showed signs of stress and fatigue.
Tony (thinking): (Oh no, the fatigue… I have to press on, I cannot stop now!)
The warriors crippled the Yoma, and when Tony jumped high to tear its back and in the moment to fall, his vision began to lose focus.
Tony (thinking): (Come on, not now!)
As they went down on the floor, Noel and Sophia looked at him.
Noel: And now, Sophia?
Sophia: We're almost at the limit. We don't know if Tony will handle this.
Priscilla (joining her hands to cheer for Tony): Come on Tony, you can do it.
Tony came down with everything at Yoma. At the moment the adversary was about to stop the Templar, its blow missed for a moment and his back was shattered by the swords of the boy. And as it fells back on the floor, Tony jumped and cut its head with a swishing strike and landed on the floor. Feeling his body soaked with blood, he takes it down a bit on his face, and then his swords.
Tony: Well, this one didn't put much to a fight.
He joins his weapons to guard them. And by the time he was about to walk, his Berserker pushed hard to the point of knocking him down. Priscilla ran and managed to hold him. Tony was unconscious for a few minutes.
Priscilla: Tony!
Noel and Sophia: Tony, are you okay?
He opened his eyes again. And seeing their faces again, she was glad they were alive and safe.
Tony: Noel…? Sophia…? Priscilla?
Sophia (sighed in relief): He's fine.
Noel (feeling her eyes soaked with tears): What a relief…
Priscilla (surprised as she helped Tony to stand up): Huh? Are you crying, Noel?
Sophia: Oh, no mind her. She's just a temperamental kid.
Noel couldn't stand that moment and ended up hugging the boy so excited.
Tony (feeling a little pain and suffocated by the squeeze): Whoa, take it easy there, Noel… (then he notices Sophia's eyes flooding) Hey, don't come with me crying. If you want to hug me, feel free. There is no turning back if you refuse it
Sophia (trying to hide her happiness and excitement): I'm not crying. It's just a speck in my eye.
Priscilla (smiling): Sophia…
Sophia gave in to the emotion and went to Tony's embrace. Then Priscilla was next.
Tony: There. There. I'm glad you're safe and sound.
After the sobbing of Numbers 3 and 4, they took the path to return to Irene. However, new Yoma have come to stop them. And since they were on the edge, they had no chance to beat them all.
Priscilla: Oh no. More Yoma.
Noel (angry): Damn! Right now!
Tony: What now?! Sophia, do you have some remaining energy to knock them down?
Sophia: Tony, by now we're at the edge of our strength, just like you. We cannot go further with everything over them.
Tony (outraged at the situation): So this is indeed our end. Ah great.
The Yoma were preparing to attack. It really seemed to end there, until that moment. From behind, they heard a voice from behind, echoing to the warriors and Tony, and the monsters heard it.
Irene: Look at this. If I had known you would come here, you would have brought extra strength to help your escape.
When the girls and the boy saw, it was the Number 2 of the Organization. The Quicksword Irene. The Yoma went towards her, and to misfortune, she didn't move a muscle and their bodies were wrecked out of nowhere.
Tony: What was that?!
Priscilla: Unbelievable.
Sophia: Whoa, is this the potential of Irene?
Noel: She did not draw the sword and did not even move a muscle against those Yoma.
Irene advanced to approach the little group. And her expression was a little pleasant.
Irene: Noel, Sophia, may I ask what you and the recruits were doing here?
Noel (approaching Number 2): Irene, it was all my fault.
The others were surprised to hear the confession of Number 4.
Sophia (serious): What do you mean, Noel? It wasn't entirely your fault.
Noel: I'm trying to be modest, Sophia!
Irene (raised her eyebrows): At least, may I know the reason for this?
Sophia: Irene, it was not all of Noel's fault. It was mine too.
Priscilla: And mine too.
Tony: Me too.
Noel: We taught them everything back in the village, but I ended up getting angry with Tony. (then lowered her head in disappointment)
Sophia: I was angry with him too. And we ignore your sadness. (also lowered your head)
Tony: I decided to go back to my camp and took the path through this forest.
Priscilla: I tried to stop him, but I couldn't. And we decided to save his life.
Noel: Even if we wanted to warn you, Irene, we thought it was best to go right to him.
Sophia: And that was it.
Irene (putting her hands on his arms): So, was really that it? Okay, I'm not in a bad mood today to downgrade you. (her expression quickly changed to serious and cold) But I also won't let this situation go unpunished!
Irene approaches the warriors placed as responsible.
Irene: Noel. Sophia. You can't ignore the fact that responsibility requires so much. And if you get to the point of demoralizing novices and trainees with your kind of behavior, you will ignore that kind of responsibility and put him in a difficult situation. You can even pay attention to what they're doing and it's inappropriate, but I don't want to do it again! I'm clear?
Noel and Sophia: Yes, Mistress Irene.
Irene: And now you, Tony. In your sadness, you decided to leave this group to return to your camp, without considering the fact that this forest had been infested with Yoma for weeks. You risked your life as entered this place, and your companions' lives to bring down the Unusual Yoma. If the situation is so bad on your side and I'm around, let me know as soon as I need to make changes. And I hope you do not have to hear that again if you risk it with Yoma. Am I clear?
Tony: Yes, el… I mean, Irene.
Irene: So we're clear. As punishment, you will have to clean your rooms, clean the stables, prepare dinner, and pack your uniforms. It's getting late when we get back to camp! (she closes her eyes at them for having matured and teaming skills) But I'm glad you survived and worked together to bring down that Big One. Losing three warriors for it wasn't easy for the Organization to handle. Come, let's go before more Yoma can come and track our scent.
Irene walked ahead. Noel, Sophia, Priscilla and Tony decide to go along.
Tony: But anyway, what is the real strength of Irene?
Sophia: Let's say she's fast, strong…
Noel: … a born leader, and a hell of a lady full of orders.
Irene: I heard that, Noel.
Noel: Oh, sorry Irene.
Priscilla: Hey Tony, what did you think of this day?
Tony: I would say, rather exciting and action-packed. Ah, Noel. Sophia. You look cute when you get emotional next to me.
Noel and Sophia (embarrassed): What?!
Tony (laughing): I'm just joking.
Sophia (annoyed): Only you, is that it?
Noel (annoyed): I agree.
The brave warriors and the Templar continue to their inn and begin their punitive sections, imposed by Irene. But on that day, they learned to live with differences of castes, customs and gender.
